Multiplier Event 2 (ISOHTEL 2024) was held in Istanbul on 21–22 September 2024 as the second major dissemination activity of the Language Tree Project. Building on the success of the first event, this symposium brought together key stakeholders to present and discuss the three main Project Results: PR1 (Needs Analysis), PR2 (Interactive Speaking Curriculum), and PR3 (Diagram Design). These results were shared through detailed presentations and live demonstrations of the Language Tree Web Application, allowing participants to directly experience the system and provide immediate feedback to support its further development.
The event stood out for the high-level institutional support it received. The Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, the President of the Board of Education and Discipline (Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu), and the Vice President of the Turkish Language Association personally attended the event and delivered opening speeches. Their presence underscored the strategic importance of digital transformation and multilingual approaches in Turkish language education.
A total of 43 academic papers were presented during the symposium. These papers covered a wide range of themes related to heritage language teaching, foreign language pedagogy, digital tools in language learning, and AI-supported instructional models. The expanded versions of these papers are planned to be published as a scientific book in 2025, and the editorial process for this publication is currently ongoing.
The symposium was closely followed by the national press, with extensive coverage including live reporting, interviews, and post-event features. In total, 154 stakeholders attended the event in person, while an additional 29 virtual participants followed the sessions via live stream and participated in Q&A sessions. However, due to a limitation in the Erasmus+ Beneficiary Module, which lacks a dedicated input field for online attendees, this number could not be recorded in the system.
ISOHTEL 2024 proved to be a major milestone in the Language Tree Project by reinforcing institutional partnerships, broadening the project’s impact both in Türkiye and across Europe, and ensuring that the final version of the Language Tree Web Application will reflect expert insights and user expectations alike.
